After saving the world 6 months prior, Bermuda Jones is back. When women are turning up dead and with their hearts ripped out, Bermuda is called to Glasgow to help solve the case.
It was great to read that Bermuda had not changed. He still balked authority to get the job done and his smart mouth annoyed everyone he worked with. However, working with the Glasgow Police, he met his match with DC Sam McAllister, hard drinking and as stubborn as him.
Having read Doorways, I knew that I was in for an action packed thrilling read and from page one I was not disappointed. After destroying Big Ben in Doorways, I didn’t think that Bermuda could top this but destroying another monumental building in London and derailing a tram in Glasgow, proved me wrong. Argyle played a bigger part in this story and the more you read, the more you learn about Argyle’s past. Spending time with Bermuda had rubbed off on Argyle as he picked up some of his habits and some of his witty remarks brought a smile to my face. The Others featured in this book were more sadistic than Barnaby and whilst the world was not in danger, the women in Glasgow were.
The story was well plotted and flowed smoothly. With all the action in the book making it a page turner as I wanted to know if Bermuda survives the constant onslaught. There was moving moments when McAllister and Bermuda reminisce about their past. The ending was unexpected and I am still in shock as I cannot believe what the author did. However, I hope there will be more in this series as who does not love a tattooed bad guy who saves the world
