Working for Behind The Curtain Organisation(BTOC), Franklyn Jones, Bermuda to his friends, had a skill, he found missing people. Not people who just up-sticks and wanted a better life, but the ones who left no trace. Having a gift to see “Others” creatures from another world, he protected he was tasked to keep the peace between the two worlds. Working with Bermuda was Argyle, an Other who lived on earth and worked with the humans. Most of their mission were easily solved, but when a high number of people went missing at a rapid rate and a strange symbol cropped up at every scene. Bermuda and Argyle had a race against the clock, when Barnaby a deranged other wanted to destroy humanity.
Bermuda was not your typical save the world type of guy. He smoked too much, ate a lot of Tic Tacs, did not like authority and hated his gift. I loved him, whilst his methods were quite unorthodoxed he got the job done. Argyle was the complete opposite, a warrior who took his job seriously. Saying that they worked well together and were more like friends than partners.
From the moment you start this book you are transported in to a Bermuda’s world. There is a lot of action in this story making it a fast-paced read. Throughout the story you learn about Bermuda’s past and you understand why he is so troubled and you do feel sorry for him. The final battle is built up to a climatic ending and if it was written a couple of months ago, it would explain why Big Ben is now silent. Thanks to the descriptive way the author wrote I could close my eyes and picture Bermuda, Barnaby and Argyle straight away, and would love to see these characters represented in a video game, like CSGO, that I always play with boosting online that help me gain rank in csgo.
Whilst this book has been categorised as sci-fi, paranormal and urban fantasy, it also has a mystery/ thriller feel to it and readers of any of these genres will enjoy it. This is the 1st book I have read by this author and with book 2 already in the pipeline I am looking forward to more of Bermuda Jones’ cases.
