I nearly woke up dead this morning. Dreadful inconvenience, I can tell you. Which is why it was such a good job I had Sean T Page’s Ministry of Zombies to hand. I may otherwise have been really most sincerely dead. Ahem.

So, as I fought off the hordes of Zombies trying to break into my lovely corner, semi-detached, I grabbed this guide to see what advice I could glean. Took me a few enjoyable hours to read, but by Jove I did it! I’m alive. And here’s how.

This Official Zombie Handbook (UK), a far wittier read than Max Brook’s World War Z, was just the ticket a stalwart Brit like myself needed. So, after grabbing a cup of tea and a slice of cake I devoured the contents of Page’s book, earnestly hoping that I myself would remain un-devoured.

Thankfully, this helpful survival guide is split into six useful sections that are very easy to read. Following the introduction, we have ‘A Survivor’s Guide to Zombies’, which gives us a rather interesting historical slant on the zombie with some nice graphics depicting the eponymous anti-hero currently so popular. As Page puts it, it’s ‘Zombie 101’.  Next we have ‘A Zombie Apocalypse in the UK’, my personal favourite section.  This chapter examines the reactions/actions we can expect, should an apocalypse descend upon ‘This Sceptred Isle’. Great stuff and it is followed nicely by ‘Complete Zombie Defence’. It is most definitely worth noting that “it is unlikely your local housing association will respond positively to your request for an anti-ghoul cattle grate to be installed at the communal entrance to your flat”. Brilliant! And very sage advice too! This excerpt probably hints at the wry flavour o this book and the art work on the cover (Dan Brown meets Romero) perfectly sums up what you can expect from this. Well worth investing in, if, like me, you wish to remain alive.
