Drop Dead Gorgeous CoverDrop Dead Gorgeous

Author: Wayne Simmons

Publisher: Snowbooks

Price: £7.99

Page count: 288pp

Reviewer: Theresa Derwin

Utilising the turbulent backdrop of Belfast, Northern Ireland, in his novel Drop Dead Gorgeous, Simmons’ uses the political history of the infamous city to add an extra dimension to what on the surface, is a ‘by the numbers’ zombie horror novel. And that is the key point here. Following the old trope of not judging a book by its cover, Drop Dead Gorgeous or DDG plays with stereotypes and subverts expectations delivering a truly frightening and atmospheric read.

Interview with Mikey Green

April 1, 2011 - 9:43 am 2 Comments

Thanks very much for popping in today.  You’re about to read an exclusive interview with a 16yr old boy named Mikey.  As you know, I’ve been running this website for about a month now, and I have a bit of a modest following; friends, family, that sort of thing. I’ve been really grateful for the feedback I’ve received.  And I’ve never been more grateful than at this moment.

Last night I had an email from a young guy named Mikey who wanted to share something with me. He lives locally so I arranged a visit with him so we could talk.  Mikey has been subjected to bullying and harassment at his work place because he is different, and he wants me to help him to share his experiences with as many people as I can.  Now I need you all to read this story and tell everyone you know about it.  Mikey’s story needs to be shared. He is sick and tired of the discrimination and he wants a voice.  He wants to come out.

Below I have transcribed my interview with Mikey Green. I took a photo of him and my friend Lee Hartnup has formatted the picture enough so you can see what young Mikey looks like and put a face to the name.
